Year 4 Teaching Assistant – North Leeds
Full Time | September Start | Long-Term Opportunity | Potential Permanent Position
Hays Education are working with a welcoming primary school in North Leeds who are looking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 4 Teaching Assistant to join their team from September on a full-time, long-term basis, with the potential for the role to become permanent for the right candidate.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with the Year 4 class teacher, supporting pupils across the classroom with a particular focus on those with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The Role:
As a Year 4 Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
- Work closely with pupils with SEN and SEMH needs, helping them to access learning and achieve their potential.
- Lead targeted small-group intervention sessions to support academic progress and personal development.
- Provide support during whole-class teaching and independent learning activities.
- Help create a positive, nurturing and structured learning environment.
- Build strong relationships with pupils, encouraging positive behaviour, confidence and engagement in learning.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience working with pupils with SEN and/or SEMH needs.
- Is confident supporting children both in small groups and within whole-class settings.
- Has a firm but kind, fair and consistent approach to behaviour management.
- Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
- Is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and make continued expected progress.
- Is patient, resilient and committed to making a difference in pupils' educational journeys.
