Year 3 Teaching Assistant Newton Le Willows

We are currently working with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Newton Le Willows who are looking to appoint a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their Year 3 team on a temporary contract with the possibility of turning into a permanent position for the right candidate. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience working with children in any setting, whether that’s in schools, nurseries, youth work, or care environments.

Relevant qualifications in childcare or education are desirable but not essential. What matters most is your ability to engage with children, support their learning, and contribute positively to the classroom environment.

As a Year 3 Teaching Assistant, some of your duties will be:
  • Supporting the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom activities.
  • Providing individual and small group support to pupils, including those with additional needs.
  • Assisting with phonics, literacy, and numeracy interventions.
  • Helping pupils stay focused and engaged during lessons.
  • Supporting children with emotional regulation and social interaction.
  • Preparing learning materials and helping with classroom organisation.
  • Supervising pupils during break and lunch times as needed.
  • Contributing to a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
  • Communicating effectively with staff, pupils, and parents.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience working with children in any capacity.
  • A caring, enthusiastic, and proactive approach.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • A genuine interest in supporting children’s education and wellbeing.
  • Flexibility and a willingness to get involved in all aspects of school life.
  • Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential.
  • Full right to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willing to obtain one.
