Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated Year 2 Teacher looking for a new opportunity in Torquay? Hays Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school seeking a talented KS1 Teacher to join their team from September 2026.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced teacher or ECT who is passionate about helping children thrive during this important stage of their primary education. The role is 4 days per week, offering an excellent work-life balance, with full teaching responsibilities and the possibility of becoming a permanent position for the right candidate.
The Role
As a Year 2 Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and creative lessons that inspire pupils to achieve their full potential. You will take ownership of planning, preparation, assessment, and reporting, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning across the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full classroom teaching responsibility within a Year 2 class
- Planning and delivering engaging lessons aligned with the National Curriculum
- Assessing pupil progress and adapting teaching to meet individual needs
- Creating a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
- Building strong relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues
- Contributing to the wider life of the school
About You
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Have experience teaching within Key Stage 1 (KS1)
- Demonstrate strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- Be committed to raising attainment and supporting pupil wellbeing
- Have excellent communication and organisational skills
- Be passionate about delivering high-quality primary education

Location
This role is based in Torquay, Devon, with excellent transport links from Paignton, Newton Abbot, Brixham, Teignmouth, and the surrounding South Devon area.
