Year 1 Teacher – Primary School - Preston Area

Your new company

Hays Education are currently working in partnership with a welcoming and well-regarded primary school in the Preston area to recruit a dedicated Year 1 Teacher. This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive school community that places children at the heart of everything it does. Your new role

As a Year 1 Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and creative lessons that support pupils transitioning from the Early Years Foundation Stage into Key Stage 1. You will foster a stimulating classroom environment that nurtures curiosity, independence, and a love of learning.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering high-quality, differentiated lessons aligned with the national curriculum
  • Assessing and tracking pupil progress to ensure all learners reach their full potential
  • Creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Supporting phonics development and early literacy skills
  • Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, colleagues, and senior leaders
  • Communicating effectively with parents and carers

What you'll need to succeed

The successful applicant will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have experience teaching within Key Stage 1 (Year 1 experience desirable but not essential)
  • Demonstrate strong classroom management skills
  • Show commitment to delivering high standards of teaching and learning
  • Have a good understanding of phonics (e.g., Read Write Inc, Letters and Sounds, or similar)
  • Be enthusiastic, adaptable, and passionate about primary education
Early Career Teachers (ECTs) are encouraged to apply and will be fully supported.
