Maintenance Technician Job in Chester

Hays are recruiting for a Maintenance Technician to join a not-for-profit company working on site in Chester as a part of the wastewater team. This is a permanent role offering great benefits and an opportunity to be a part of a company that is inclusive and values its employees.
Your new role
As a Maintenance Technician working in the Wastewater team, you will be responsible for but are not limited to:
- Carrying out scheduled planned maintenance work on all equipment relating to the asset base in compliance with company procedures in order to minimise plant breakdowns.
- Investigating the nature of plant failures and subsequently carrying out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible in order to avoid interruptions to service and in order to ensure compliance
- Carrying out like-for-like installations, refurbishment and assist with commissioning equipment to specification and on time
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings of various equipment to ensure correct tolerances and fits are maintained for efficient plant operation
- Maintaining a general knowledge of the treatment processes and the variations in individual assets to enable an accurate and speedy assessment of problems and their consequential results
- Actively take part in Risk Assessment, COSHH assessment and all related Health and Safety issues.
- Carrying out an assessment of spares and materials required to complete work effectively, where necessary ordering additional items via the Supervisor or direct from supplier
- Implementing and maintaining the Information Management System (IMS) procedures at all times to ISO standard. Keep IMS records to ensure that they are satisfactory for internal and BSI audits
What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will have:
- A recognised apprenticeship in mechanical/electrical or dual skilled engineering awarded with an NVQ Level 3 qualification or City & Guilds equivalent.
- Full UK Driving licence.
- Ability to work alone and as a member of a team.
- IT literate and experience of Microsoft Office applications.
- Practical experience gained in industry to support your apprenticeship and ensure full compliance and adherence to all H&S procedures.
- Participate in a standby rota.

You will start at a salary of £30,305 + additional payments in overtime and standby of around £4000. This salary can increase with tenure. Along with your 33 days of annual leave, you will have access to a range of benefits such as:
