Housing Visiting Officer Job Birmingham

Your new company

Birmingham City Council is one of the largest local authorities in the UK, committed to delivering high-quality housing services that support and empower its residents. As part of the Social Housing Department, you’ll be working in a team that values community engagement, tenant wellbeing, and proactive service delivery.

Your new role

We are looking for a dedicated Visiting Officer to support Housing Officers in delivering essential frontline services. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct Home Visit Surveys with tenants, ensuring that every tenant is visited within a certain timeframe. You’ll play a key role in gathering accurate information, identifying support needs, and maintaining strong relationships with residents. While the role is field-based, you’ll also be expected to attend the office two days per week.

What you'll need to succeed

To succeed in this role, you must be highly organised, flexible, and able to manage a fast-paced workload. You’ll need excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. A background in housing, community work, or customer service is desirable, as well as experience in completing administrative tasks and supporting triage or call-handling duties.

You must have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle in order to be considered for the role.

What you'll get in return

You’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of Birmingham’s tenants, while working in a supportive and collaborative team environment. Birmingham City Council offers access to professional development and training and flexible working arrangements where possible.
