Hays Education are currently supporting a primary school in Haydock, St Helens to recruit an experienced teaching assistant to support across Year 5 & 6.

The role will start on 3rd November 2025 and initially be until the end of the Autumn term (Christmas) but it could be extended into the new year.

The role will be Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 3.30pm.

Your new role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic General Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive upper key stage 2 team supporting across year 5 & 6.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
• Provide targeted support to pupils, including those with SEN, to help them access the curriculum and reach their full potential.
• Assist with classroom management and preparation of learning materials.
• Work closely with the SENCO and other staff to implement individual education plans (IEPs).
• Foster a positive, nurturing environment that promotes confidence and independence.
• Support the Year 5 children in preparing to transition into year 6 and complete their SATS
• Support the children in their emotional development

What you'll need to succeed

• Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification (Desirable but not essential).
• Patient, empathetic, and proactive, with a genuine interest in supporting children's learning and wellbeing.
• Full right to work in the UK
• Enhanced DBS or willing to obtain one
• Knowledge of Safeguarding
• Experience working with children
