Hays are delighted to be working in partnership with a market-leading and reputable manufacturing organisation based in Inverness to positively support their transport operation. This is an exciting, full-time permanent role for an ambitious Transport Planner who is either at the early stage of their logistics career or someone with a wealth of experience.

Your new role

The role of the Transport Planner is to support the optimisation of the Company’s supply and road transport operations to a range of customer segments throughout Scotland.
Candidates for this role must enjoy being in detail, provide prompt solutions, adapt to sudden changes, and ensure that their products are delivered safely, cost effectively and on time. A positive mindset is a must, as well as possessing a strong commercial and systems understanding supporting the continued development of one of Scotland’s leading transport businesses. Ensure close relations with suppliers and customers and ensure HSE policies are followed. Secure and manage product supply and purchasing opportunities within the marketplace and ensure execution by both internal and external hauliers is in line with corresponding purchase contracts (spot or term supply). Maintain close relations with external product suppliers to gain an understanding of products, pricing options and services.

What you'll need to succeed

E xperience working in a road transport environment with an understanding of dangerous goods transportation and relevant legislation. Experience of using ERPs to support order scheduling and processing. Intermediate knowledge of Excel preferred and experience of wider Microsoft Office suite. Ability to problem-solve, identify, and implement business improvement initiatives. Team players will need to interact with a diverse range of stakeholders. Confident communicator and the ability to represent the company externally. Able to handle multiple demands from a variety of sources at the same time without getting flustered. Driving licence.

What you'll get in return

They are offering a competitive salary of between £30,000 and £35,000 plus additional company benefits that can be discussed at the application stage.
