An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and driven individual to join an established business. With a fleet of over 110 vehicles, the role presents the opportunity to work within a strong and dedicated team gaining the skills and experience required to successfully operate the day-to-day transport operation. While you will be primarily based on site at their head office in Glasgow, you will be responsible for their transport operations at various other sites along sites throughout Scotland, so regular travel to these sites is required.
Your new role
Management of a transport operation consisting of over 110vehicles, 500 trailers & circa 180 drivers through a team of Transport Supervisors and Planners. Profit and Loss responsibility. Ensuring compliance with all transport and health & safety legislation. Ensure operation is executed in the most efficient way using tools such as vehicle telematics. Develop and enhance KPI measurements & reporting tools. Driver recruitment, engagement, training and dealing with disciplinary and grievance. Customer interfacing and reporting and development of direct reports. Work closely with the Operations Director to grow and develop the business unit.
What you'll need to succeed
Previous Transport Management experience essential, and you must have your International CPC. Excellent People Management skills, preferably with experience of a unionised environment. Confident individual who would take ownership of the team and the operation. Lead, coach and develop a team of direct reports. Good geographical knowledge and transport planning. Comfortable dealing with disciplinary, grievance, accident, and incident investigation. Experienced at using vehicle telematics systems to improve fleet efficiency and utilisation. Commercial and financial awareness (budget control, route pricing etc). Managing within multi-site and multi-customer operations.
