We are currently supporting a global financial services organisation in Belfast to appoint a Transaction Monitoring Implementation Data Analyst on a contract basis, paying £400 per day.
This role sits within the Markets Non‑Financial Risk Management (NFRM) function and will play a critical part in the delivery and enhancement of market abuse surveillance and regulatory controls within a fast‑paced, high‑impact environment.
The Role
You will lead and support data‑driven initiatives aligned to transaction monitoring and surveillance controls, working closely with risk, compliance, technology and business stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading all data‑related aspects of transaction monitoring and market abuse surveillance initiatives
- Gathering data requirements and sourcing relevant datasets
- Writing SQL queries to extract, analyse and validate large and complex datasets
- Documenting datasets, filters and associated rationale clearly and accurately
- Acting as a Subject Matter Expert for data consumed by transaction monitoring controls
- Analysing data issues, identifying root causes, and recommending improvements
- Supporting risk assessments and ensuring alignment to regulatory and internal control standards
- Working with global stakeholders across different regions
Skills & Experience Required
- 4–8 years’ experience working as a Data Analyst or Business Analyst within a regulated or financial services environment
- Strong SQL skills (essential)
- Experience working with large datasets and complex data structures
- Exposure to financial markets and products (bonds, derivatives, or trading data) is highly desirable
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving and documentation skills
- Confident communicator, able to engage effectively with senior stakeholders
- Comfortable working with autonomy in a project‑based, delivery‑focused role
