As a Senior Deskside Engineer you will be installing and configuring lab software and computers based on established documentation, managing network socket connections, and supporting the integration of vendor-supplied systems.

Shifts: Monday to Friday (37.5 hours)

Location: Slough Berkshire

Working Hours : 09:00am to 5:30pm

Contract Duration: 01-Oct-25 - 31-Mar-26

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Assist with installation of laboratory software based on approved software catalogue
• Oversee physical network socket connections between switches and patch panels in lab areas
• Prepare, install, and configure laboratory computers according to governance and documentation standards
• Support installation of new computerized lab instruments in collaboration with key users and vendors
• Monitor and troubleshoot Comm Vault lab client backup tickets using CommCell Console
• Participate in Windows lifecycle management activities (e.g., upgrades, patching)
• Maintain accurate records of lab assets in CMDB and Lab Inventory systems
• Provide general troubleshooting and technical support for lab clients

Other stuff we’re potentially looking for:

• Proven experience in deskside or IT support roles, preferably in a laboratory or healthcare setting
• Strong understanding of network infrastructure and hardware setup
• Familiarity with Comm Vault backup systems and Windows OS lifecycle management
• Experience with CMDB and asset inventory tools
• Ability to follow structured documentation and governance protocols
• Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills
• Comfortable working in a regulated, documentation-heavy environment

• A daily rate, in-scope IR35, of £ 19.38 (PAYE) OR £25.15 (via a Hays Approved Umbrella Company).
