Your new company

Our client is based in Milton Keynes and are seeking a Technical Stores & Logistics person to join their team on a permanent basis.
The company supplies, services, repairs and replaces train doors on train stock across the country.
The successful applicant will be a key player in co-ordinating inventory, systems, and logistics to ensure optimal service levels.
Your responsibilities will include managing facilities, stores, and logistics operations while collaborating closely with the Projects, Repairs, and Fabrication teams to drive continuous improvement and maintain high-quality service delivery.


Your new role

The job will involve but not limited to the following duties:
  • Coordinate the facilities, stores, and logistics requirements to meet key service objectives (Quality, Cost, and Delivery).
  • Monitor inventory to ensure a robust process, quality checks, and feedback to avoid repeat issues.
  • Forward planning to mitigate late delivery, presenting options to management.
  • Adequate resource planning to cover holidays or other leave.
  • Respond to building alarm call-outs if necessary.
  • Collaborate with Projects, Repairs & Fabrication functions for resource planning and lean production techniques.
  • Promptly resolve issues and demonstrate mitigating actions to management.
  • Organise the stores and logistics department to maintain a safe, clean, and tidy environment.
  • Explore ways to improve the stores and logistics operations
  • Assist the assembly process to progress repairs and fabrication activities.
  • Record work completed outside of contracted scope to reflect additional costs in the final invoice.
  • Support the Field Technical team with reports and protocols.
  • Attend team briefings/toolbox talks and ensure sessions are formalised and recorded.
  • Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with procedures, risk assessments, and COSHH.
What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:
  • Stores & Logistics experience.
  • Mechanical or Electrical experience.
  • Assembly & fabrication experience.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Flexibility to support other engineering functions.
  • Fork Lift Truck licence.
  • Mechanical qualifications (advantageous).
  • Electrical qualifications (advantageous).

  • Salary depending on experience, £35,000 to £40,000
  • 28 holiday days rising by one each year of service to maximum of 33
  • Company pension
  • Death in service
  • Overtime rates above contracted 38hrs per week.
  • x1.33 over Weekdays, x1.5 Weekends, x2 Nightshifts
  • Company van where required
