Asset & Workshop Support Technician | HAYS | Hatfield

Join a leading Independent technology and services provider as Asset & Workshop Support Technician.

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Asset & Workshop Support Technician to join our Maintenance Service Centre team. This role is essential. in ensuring the smooth flow of assets through the workshop, maintaining accurate records, and supporting IT hardware preparation and repair. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organisational skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to work flexibly across multiple tasks to meet service level agreements (SLAs).

  • Location: Hatfield Avenue Hatfield Business Park - Hatfield Hertfordshire
  • Daily Rate: A per hour rate, in-scope IR35, of £13.84/hr PAYE) OR £17.96/hr (via a Hays approved umbrella company)
  • Contract Duration: 8-12-2025 to 01-05-2026
  • Working Hours : 9am-6pm Monday to Friday onsite

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage all assets entering the workshop and liaise with distribution teams to resolve discrepancies.
  • Organise, analyse, and handle tickets within the company computer system.
  • Conduct filtration, inspection, testing, and cleaning of all device types.
  • Prepare new and repaired hardware for deployment.
  • Perform general housekeeping to identify and eliminate causes of backlogs, ensuring continuous service delivery.
  • Assist with specific tasks requiring prompt investigation and resolution.
  • Maintain assets using an accurate location system to ensure precise asset management.
  • Implement and maintain 6S standards within the workshop.
  • Provide flexibility in workloads and working patterns to support all areas of the Maintenance Service Centre, avoiding backlogs and ensuring SLA achievement.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Excellent administration and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications.
  • Previous experience supporting IT hardware at both software and hardware levels.
  • Strong administrative background with attention to detail and accuracy in data reporting and processing.
  • Ability to gain OEM and standard IT accreditations.
  • ITIL experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in a corporate IT environment is an advantage.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Hands-on, proactive, and willing to take initiative.
  • Strong sense of urgency and flexibility in workload management.
  • Effective collaborator with experience in building strong team relationships.
  • Confident, professional, positive, and proactive approach.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise effectively.
  • Integrity and initiative in problem-solving.
