The school supports students aged 11–16 with a range of social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, often alongside additional learning difficulties or behavioural challenges. This PRU is known for its inclusive, trauma-informed approach, small class sizes, and strong focus on building positive relationships. This is a full-time, long-term role with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

Your New Job
As a Team Teach Trained Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students both in and out of the classroom. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
  • Implementing de-escalation strategies and behaviour support plans
  • Supporting students with academic tasks and emotional regulation
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals
  • Maintaining a calm, consistent, and nurturing presence throughout the school day
What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, or in alternative provisions
  • A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach to behaviour management
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one) is also required.
What You'll Get in Return
  • A rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated Hays consultant
  • Access to free CPD training and safeguarding courses
  • Competitive rates of pay
  • Potential for a permanent contract
