Hays is working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Prenton to recruit a full‑time EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates experienced in supporting pupils with complex needs, including communication difficulties, sensory processing challenges, developmental delay, and social–emotional needs.
Your new role
You will provide consistent 1:1 support to an EYFS child with complex needs.
Your responsibilities will include:
Implementing communication approaches such as PECS, visual supports, and alternative communication strategies
Supporting sensory regulation through tailored strategies, sensory breaks, and structured routines
Enabling the child to access learning through task‑breaking, modelling, and personalised engagement activities
Assisting with emotional regulation, behaviour support, and nurturing positive attachment
Working collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals such as speech and language therapists or occupational therapists
Helping to create a structured, calm, and nurturing environment that promotes safety, progress, and independence
What you'll need to succeed
Experience supporting children with complex SEND is essential. This may include communication needs, sensory needs, medical or physical needs, or behaviour linked to regulation difficulties.
You will demonstrate:
Patience, empathy, and resilience
An ability to follow specialist strategies consistently
Strong teamwork and excellent communication with staff and parents
Confidence in supporting early child development
