Teaching Assistant Job in Birkenhead
Your new company
A primary school in Birkenhead is looking to appoint a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs. The school is supportive, inclusive, and committed to providing consistent, high-quality support for its learners.
Your new role
You will be working 1:1 with a Year 6 pupil with ADHD, with a focus on supporting emotional regulation and engagement. While the pupil is in Year 6, much of the support will take place within a Year 2 environment.
The role will involve supporting behaviour, implementing breakout strategies when the child becomes dysregulated, and using physical exercise as a key regulation tool. The school has expressed a preference for a male Teaching Assistant. However, all suitable profiles will be considered.
This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, starting Monday 26th January and running until July, with the potential to extend for the right candidate. The school is seeking one consistent person, so candidates must be available to commit full-time.
What you'll need to succeed
Experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school setting
Previous experience supporting children with ADHD and challenging behaviour
Confidence using physical activity and structured strategies to support regulation
A calm, patient, and resilient approach
Full availability Monday to Friday
A DBS registered on the update service (or willingness to apply)
What you'll get in return
A full-time, long-term role in a supportive primary school
Consistent work with one pupil, allowing you to build strong relationships
Competitive pay through the agency
Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant
The opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a child’s education
