A welcoming and inclusive primary school near Greasby is seeking a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a young boy in F2 (Reception) with severe autism. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide consistent, tailored support and help a child thrive in a nurturing learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 support for a child with severe autism in a Reception class
Assist with communication, sensory regulation, and engagement in learning
Implement strategies to support emotional wellbeing and reduce anxiety
Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver personalised support
Promote a calm, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
Candidate Requirements
Experience supporting children with autism or complex SEN, ideally in EYFS or KS1
Understanding of autism support strategies, sensory needs, and communication tools (e.g. PECS, visual timetables)
Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach
Ability to build trust and consistency with the child
Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare
Formal qualifications are not essential – experience and approach are key.
