SEN Teaching Assistant Job in Wallasey

SEN Teaching Assistant – Reception Class (Long Term)
Location: Wallasey, Wirral

Hays Education are working in partnership with a welcoming primary school in Wallasey, Wirral, who are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their Reception class on a long-term basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the early years of children’s education, supporting pupils aged 4-5 with additional needs.

Your new role:
Work closely with the class teacher to support the learning and development of Reception-aged children, with a particular focus on those with special educational needs (SEN).
Assist in planning and delivering engaging, age-appropriate activities tailored to individual needs.
Provide one-to-one and small group support to children with SEN, helping them access the curriculum and reach their full potential.
Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment.
Support children’s social, emotional, and physical development.
Observe and record children’s progress, sharing insights with the teaching team and SENCO.
Build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.

Working hours:
8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)

What you'll need to succeed:
A relevant qualification in Early Years or Childcare (Level 2 or above preferred).
Previous experience supporting children with SEN in an educational setting, ideally within Early Years or Reception.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A patient, caring, and adaptable approach to working with young children.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
