Hays Education is working in partnership with a number of primary schools across Taunton that are recruiting enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistants for September 2026 starts.
We are supporting schools with a variety of opportunities, including permanent classroom-based Teaching Assistant positions and fixed-term SEND Teaching Assistant roles providing 1:1 support. These full-time positions offer the chance to make a genuine difference in pupils' educational journeys while becoming part of supportive and welcoming school communities.

The Roles
We are currently recruiting for:
General Classroom Teaching Assistants (Permanent)
- Supporting pupils across EYFS, KS1 or KS2
- Assisting class teachers with lessons and learning activities
- Encouraging pupil engagement and progress
- Supporting classroom organisation and behaviour management
SEND Teaching Assistants (Fixed-Term Contract)
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals
- Supporting pupils with academic, social and emotional development
- Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment
What You'll Need to Succeed
- Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting
- A positive, patient and supportive approach
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- SEND experience is desirable for specialist support roles but not essential
