Teaching Assistant – Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Your new role
Hays Education is currently recruiting for a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 11–16 with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) at a specialist secondary school in Skelmersdale. The school provides a nurturing and structured environment for students with social, emotional and mental health needs, autism spectrum conditions, and other learning barriers.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping pupils access the curriculum, develop social skills, and build confidence. You’ll work closely with teaching staff to deliver personalised learning plans, provide one-to-one and small group support, and contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture.
What you'll need to succeed

To thrive in this role, you should have:
  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an SEN or SEMH setting
  • A calm, empathetic and resilient approach to behaviour and emotional support
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for helping young people reach their potential
  • Relevant qualifications such as Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant, or a willingness to train
