Teaching Assistant – Full-Time

Hays Education is working in partnership with a specialist high school in the Preston area that supports young people with a range of additional needs. The school prides itself on providing a safe, structured and nurturing environment where pupils are supported to develop socially, emotionally and academically. Staff work collaboratively and are committed to inclusive practice and student-centred support.
Your new role
We are recruiting a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to work on a full-time, ongoing basis, with a strong possibility of the role becoming permanent for the right person. You will support pupils across the school, helping them to access learning, regulate emotions and build positive routines. Working closely with teachers and other support staff, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality care and personalised learning.
Key responsibilities
- Support pupils with a range of additional needs in accessing lessons and activities
- Build positive, trusting relationships using a calm and patient approach
- Assist with behaviour regulation strategies and classroom routines
- Provide targeted 1:1 or small-group support where needed
- Contribute to planning, observations and progress updates
- Work collaboratively with the wider staff team and external professionals
What you’ll need to succeed
- Experience within an SEN or school environment is desirable but not essential
- A compassionate, resilient and adaptable approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice
- Willingness to support pupils with diverse emotional and behavioural needs
