Primary School Teaching Assistant – Oldham

Are you passionate about supporting young learners in their early educational journey? Hays Education is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Primary School Teaching Assistants to work across a range of friendly, supportive primary schools in the Oldham area.

Your new role
As a Supply Primary Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting teaching and learning throughout EYFS, KS1 and KS2 classrooms. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
  • Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom organisation
  • Helping create a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
  • Supporting children with additional needs and adapting learning materials where required
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and contributing to the school’s safeguarding culture
  • Providing general classroom, playground, and lunchtime support
Assignments are flexible and vary based on school needs—perfect for those seeking work-life balance or experience across different primary settings.
What you’ll need to succeed

We welcome applications from experienced Teaching Assistants as well as those with transferable skills from childcare, youth work, or similar roles. You will need:

  • Experience working with children aged 4–11
  • A genuine passion for primary education
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Reliability, flexibility, and a proactive approach
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply through Hays
