SEN Teaching Assistant – Specialist Unit within a Primary School (Tameside)

Your New Job

We are currently recruiting for a passionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated specialist unit within a mainstream primary school in the Denton area. This full-time role is to begin in September and is expected to continue throughout the academic year. The unit supports early years and KS1 children with a range of complex special educational needs, including autism, global developmental delay, and sensory processing difficulties. You will work closely with the class teacher and other support staff to provide tailored interventions, one-to-one support, and help pupils access a highly personalised curriculum. The role requires a nurturing and patient approach, with a strong focus on communication, emotional regulation, and inclusive learning.

What You'll Need to Succeed
Experience working with children with complex SEN, ideally in an early years or primary setting
A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3 preferred)
A calm, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting children with additional needs
Strong communication and teamwork skills
An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one through Hays)
