Your new school
Hays are recruiting a Full-Time SEN Teaching Assistant in Cardiff for a Special Educational Needs School which caters for pupils aged 3 – 11 with a variety of varied additional learning needs and some aspects of challenging behaviour, with the majority of students possessing a statement of additional needs. This role will involve working with small groups of students between the ages of 5 and 7, with varying levels of additional needs including some students who are non-verbal and possess severe learning difficulties, as well as the related behaviour challenges. The school is highly regarded and provides an excellent standard of education and care for its students. This is delivered through the inspired work of the teaching staff, as well as the clear and supportive vision set forward by the leadership team.
Your new role.
The role is confirmed long-term for a September start, working 5 days a week. Additionally, there are similar positions within this school, as well as a sister school, with part-time working hours and a September start date. Duties relating to this role include but are not limited to:
- Working with small groups of students aged 5-7 with varying additional learning needs and some aspects of challenging behaviour.
- Creating a safe and enjoyable learning environment for children.
- Assisting teachers as they implement their lesson plans.
- Working closely as part of a team of 1 teacher and 3 teaching assistants.
- Demonstrating high levels of patience and empathy when dealing with potentially challenging behaviour.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role, it is required that you possess at least 40 days of relevant experience over the course of the last 2 – 3 years. Some of the key attributes and skills needed for this role include enthusiasm, calmness, dedication, patience, and the ability to solve problems effectively when working under pressure.
