Teaching Assistant Job at SEN School near Melton Mowbray

Hays Education is looking for a Teaching Assistant who specialises in Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) issues to work in a provision near Melton Mowbray for pupils who are unable to access mainstream education. This role is term-time only and can be full-time and part-time. You'll initially join the team on a temporary basis with the opportunity to progress to a permanent position for the right candidate. Your new school

You'll be working in a specialist independent school for young people with complex trauma, mental health, behaviour and attachment needs. The provision is set in the picturesque Vale of Belvoir where local woodland and farming traditions are used as tools to enhance learning and pupil well-being. The school adopts a therapeutic approach which focuses on play, curiosity and empathy supported by a team of specialist, dedicated staff who are excited to welcome you to their team.

Your new role

In your new job as a Teaching Assistant, you'll mentor pupils throughout their school day: from managing behaviour in the classroom to supporting during transition times. You'll have the privilege of being a positive role model for pupils and be able to offer 1:1 support for individuals who need great guidance. The pupils you support will have a range of additional needs including SEMH, ASD and ADHD. What you need to succeed

To succeed in your new job, you’ll have experience working with vulnerable young people, ideally in an educational setting or as a mentor/coach. You’re someone who thrives in challenging environments, and you enjoy adapting to new situations. You’ll have supported with young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs (SEMH), Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASD) and or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Most importantly, you’ll be confident stepping into a new school and ready to support pupils with a range of needs.
