KS4 Teaching Assistant Job Available at SEMH Secondary School in Blackley

Hays are working with a specialist SEMH Secondary School in Blackley who are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support students across Key Stage 4. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a supportive school environment, helping young people to engage positively with their learning and achieve their full potential.

You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide targeted academic and pastoral support to pupils, both in the classroom and through small group or one‑to‑one interventions.

This school is a small, specialist provision for young people with SEMH needs. They offer a therapeutic, safe, and nurturing learning environment designed to help pupils build confidence, explore learning, and realise their full potential. The curriculum is designed to meet the needs of neurodiverse learners, with cutting‑edge interventions that support progress and wellbeing.

This school supports pupils with a range of needs, including:
  • Emotional regulation difficulties
  • Neurodiverse profiles (e.g., ASD, ADHD)
  • Social and relational development needs
  • Mental health-related vulnerabilities
  • Disrupted educational histories

Hours: Full-time
Rate: Up to £120/day DOE

What You'll Be Doing
  • Support the learning and behaviour of KS4 pupils in line with individual needs
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
  • Provide one‑to‑one and small group support where required
  • Help pupils develop independence, confidence and positive learning behaviours
  • Support pupils with SEND, SEMH or additional learning needs (where applicable)
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school and maintain a safe, inclusive environment

What We're Looking For
  • Experience working with secondary‑aged pupils, ideally within KS4
  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH needs
  • A patient, calm and positive approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant) are desirable but not essential
  • Team Teach training (desirable)
