Warrington, Cheshire. 1:1 and small group support. Full-time temporary contract until July 2026.

Your new company

Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a Warrington-based high school as they are looking to appoint a competent and experienced teaching assistant for a full-time temporary contract that will last until the end of the academic year. This is an extremely supportive and welcoming school with an outstanding reputation within its local area. This role is required due to a member of the team moving on to pastures new. Due to this, a permanent contract may be offered to the correct individual.

Your new role

As a teaching assistant within this school, you will be joining a welcoming and collaborative team of like-minded professionals. You will work in partnership with teaching and support staff to differentiate learning materials and break down learning barriers for your new pupils across KS3 and KS4. You will offer small group and 1:1 support to a variety of different pupils, ranging from those that are lower/mixed ability to ensure they reach their full academic potential and those with SEMH (social, emotional, mental health). You will build strong constructive relationships with your new pupils by getting to know them as individuals and taking pupil-centred and trauma-informed approaches dependent on the pupils' needs or emotional state. As well as support with classroom duties, you will also work in collaboration with the pastoral team to boost behaviours and attendance by delivering ELSA (emotional literacy support assessments) and liaising with parents/guardians.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, a minimum of 40 days referenceable relevant classroom experience, and:

  • A solid understanding of the KS3 and KS4 national curriculums
  • Experience supporting SEMH and the ability to take a trauma-informed approach to education
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Previous pastoral experience is advantageous
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team

What you'll get in return

If you are successful in your application, you will receive the full support, dedication and guidance of a senior DfE accredited recruitment consultant, as well as a wide range of amazing benefits, that include:

  • Free training
  • Upfront cost of DBS covered
  • On-site parking
  • Long-term contract
  • Possible permanent contract
  • Full holiday entitlement
  • Competitive rate of pay
  • Company pension scheme
  • Access to exclusive vacancies
  • Refer a Friend scheme
