We’re looking for an ambitious Tax Assistant to join a respected, fast‑growing accountancy practice in Bristol. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys a blend of tax compliance, advisory work and client interaction—and wants to develop professionally within a supportive, high‑performing team.
Your new role
Working closely with the Tax Manager, you’ll take ownership of a varied portfolio while helping to guide and support Tax Trainees. You’ll play a key role in delivering accurate, timely compliance work and contributing to a wide range of advisory and transactional projects.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Preparing and reviewing personal tax returns, CGT 60‑day submissions, and trust tax returns.
- Managing self‑assessment registrations, PSA/SDLT clearances, and annual trust declarations.
- Supporting on company incorporations, share reorganisations, demergers, trust matters, and other private client advisory projects.
- Preparing tax calculations, overpayment relief claims, and Companies House documentation.
- Communicating directly with clients—handling queries, providing updates, and ensuring a smooth, professional service.
- Supporting and mentoring junior team members as they develop their technical skills.
What you'll need to succeed
- Experience in a tax role (minimum two years) with confidence handling client‑facing work.
- Strong communication skills—able to explain complex tax matters clearly and simply.
- Excellent organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to manage your own workload while supporting others in the team.
- Strong Excel skills and familiarity with tax software (IRIS/Xero experience is a bonus).
- A proactive, resilient mindset and a genuine desire to keep learning and developing.
- ATT qualified, part‑qualified, or committed to working towards the qualification.
What you'll get in return
You’ll join a collaborative, people‑focused firm where tax is seen as a value‑adding function—not just a compliance necessity. You’ll gain exposure to a broad mix of work, have direct access to senior expertise, and be encouraged to shape your own development path.
If you’re looking for a role that blends technical challenge, client interaction, and career progression, this is a brilliant next step.
