This company is a family assessment unit, where families are assessed as part of a 12-week programme. Their focus is to keep families together when it is safe and in the best interest of the child to do so. They assess all types of families, from couples to single mothers and fathers of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will need to have experience of working in a similar role, whether in a residential setting or family support centre. The majority of families at the service will have been referred from the birth of their child, so you will also have to be confident in looking after babies and small children and be able to mentor and support parents in caregiving. Families at the service are under social services and will have regular assessments about the future of their children and, therefore, it can be a very emotional environment. Therefore, to be successful in this role, you will be required to be compassionate and understanding whilst also remaining calm in difficult situations.
