Your new company

A newly opened, trauma-informed, women-only accommodation based in the centre of Plymouth. It provides a safe and secure environment where women can find rest, peace, and stability as they begin their journey of recovery from trauma, abuse, and substance misuse.

This service offers a vital alternative to unsafe living arrangements, where women may otherwise be sofa surfing or staying in perpetrators’ homes, often at high risk of domestic and sexual violence. It gives women the space to address their trauma, understand how it manifests, and take positive steps forward in life.

Your new role

As a Support Worker, you will be part of a compassionate and skilled team providing trauma-informed care and practical support to women. You’ll help create a safe and empowering environment where women can rest, recover, and rebuild their lives.

  • Providing emotional and practical support to women affected by trauma, abuse, and substance misuse
  • Supporting women to develop confidence, independence, and life skills
  • Promoting safety and wellbeing within a secure, women-only environment
  • Assisting with daily routines, appointments, and recovery-focused activities
  • Building trusting, respectful relationships with residents
  • Working collaboratively with external agencies and professionals
  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to support planning

What you'll need to succeed

  • Passionate about supporting women and promoting recovery
  • Trauma-informed, empathetic, and non-judgemental
  • Experienced in working with vulnerable individuals or within safeguarding settings
  • A confident communicator with strong boundaries and emotional resilience
  • Flexible and reliable, with availability for shift work including evenings and weekends
  • Committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment

What you'll get in return

  • Support of a dedicated Hays consultant
  • Free training and development
  • Pension contributions of up to 3%
  • CV writing
  • Refer a Friend Scheme
