Digital System Support Technician – Contract - Immediate Start

About the Role

We are seeking a Digital System Support Technician to join our client's IT team on a contract basis. This role is critical in delivering a modern, efficient, and customer-focused support service for our digital applications, including HR, finance, procurement, and operational systems.
You will play a key role in ensuring smooth operations, supporting users, and maintaining system integrity across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and provide user guidance and documentation (manuals, FAQs).
  • Draft and distribute all-staff email notifications for system changes, enhancements, and issue resolutions.
  • Manage calls at the service desk, providing timely and effective technical support.
  • Set up new user accounts and manage access permissions.
  • Follow the starter, mover, and leaver process for user lifecycle management.
  • Provide desktop support for hardware and software issues.
  • Communicate with suppliers and vendors to resolve technical issues.
  • Support system upgrades, enhancements, and change management activities.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Strong technical ability in Windows client-server environments and application support.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) with a customer service orientation.
  • Ability to create clear, user-friendly guidance and notifications.
  • Experience managing service desk calls and resolving technical issues.
  • Effective planning, organisation, and prioritisation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications
  • HNC in a computer-related subject AND at least 1 year’s recent experience in a System Support Technician role
    OR
  • At least 3 years’ recent experience in a similar role.
Other Requirements
  • Full UK driving licence or access to transport.
Desirable
  • Experience working within local government or public sector.
