Supply Chain Planner (Maternity Cover)
Location: Daventry (Hybrid – 3 days on‑site)
Contract: 9‑month assignment
Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week

Are you an experienced Supply Chain Planner looking to join a global leader in their field? Our client is seeking an organised, proactive and influential Supply Chain Planner to provide operational planning support during a period of maternity leave. Working within a major UK logistics operation, you will play a key role in ensuring materials, inventory and planning processes run smoothly and efficiently across the site. This is an excellent opportunity to join a high‑performing team, support critical cross‑functional activity and gain experience within a complex, multinational supply chain environment.
Your New Role
As Supply Chain Planner, you will support the Global Planning & Logistics function along with site‑level planning teams to ensure smooth operational execution. You will act as a central point of coordination for escalations, site activities and key planning processes, working closely with internal departments and regional stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:- Managing the material planning interface with site Operations
- Overseeing aftermarket kitting and production scheduling processes
- Driving supplier and customer returns activity across EMEA
- Coordinating Advanced Shipping Notifications to ensure seamless receipt of goods
- Engaging with Inbound Operations to resolve errors and maintain tight cycle times
- Supporting operational and transportation escalations
- Prioritising site activities such as hazmat, receiving workflows and inventory optimisation
- Monitoring and adjusting planning system parameters
- Analysing KPIs to identify improvement opportunities
- Executing daily planning activities within allocated functional areas
- Identifying supply chain risks and implementing mitigation plans
- Supporting cross‑functional continuous improvement initiatives
What you'll need to succeed
We are looking for a Supply Chain professional who thrives in a fast‑paced, complex environment and can communicate confidently with a broad range of stakeholders.
Key competencies include:
Strong communication skills with the ability to adapt to different audiences
Customer‑focused approach with a drive for results
Ability to manage complexity and solve problems effectively
Experience optimising processes and working with planning systems
Knowledge of material planning, scheduling, inventory and KPI management
Ability to interpret data and provide meaningful insights
Experience coordinating cross‑functional activity in a logistics or manufacturing setting
Preferred background:
Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or related discipline
Internship or equivalent experience in a supply chain role
Familiarity with planning tools such as APS systems, BI dashboards, Excel, OMS, etc.
