Subject Leader of Performing Arts (Drama Specialist) required at Babington Academy from Easter 2026

Babington Academy
Subject Leader of Performing Arts - Drama
Permanent and Full Time
To start from Easter/September 2026
MPR/UPR + TLR2b

We are delighted to offer this exciting opportunity for a Drama specialist to join our friendly and talented team as our new Subject Leader of Performing Arts. We are keen to appoint someone to start from Easter or September 2026.

The appointed person will join and lead a strong, stable and growing department, helping to enable our very talented students to realise and explore their potential. Experience of successfully coordinating school plays and performances would be highly advantageous. If you have a passion and talent for drama and performing arts and want to inspire and motivate students, we would love to hear from you.

This position would suit an ambitious teacher looking to rapidly develop their progress; you will either have existing leadership experience or the ambition to take your first steps into leadership. Regardless of experience we welcome applications from teachers who are inspiring and knowledgeable and want to make a real difference to the lives of our students.

It is a very exciting time to join us at Babington; we are an Ofsted Good school, with “Good Behaviour and Attitudes” (OFSTED 2023). We provide a vibrant, inclusive and diverse 11-16 school where our students are our best resource and is a place where the best teachers can make a huge difference to the outcomes of our students. A new Principal took over the school in May 2024 and “has a clear vision for improvement” (Challenge Partners, 2025).

We ask that all our teachers look to capture the imagination of our students and help to bring your subject to life! We would love to hear from you if you are likeminded, inspiring and knowledgeable within your subject and want to make a real difference to the lives of our students.

Would you like to be part of something special? If so, join our team at Babington Academy for a career without limits.

We promise:
• That every day you’ll get the opportunity to inspire young people and use your skills to give something back.
• Our students are amazing… that’s a promise!
• To support you professionally and personally by providing excellent professional development within our supportive community where staff debate teaching and learning.
• In additional to our academy based CPD, staff can also opt into Trust led professional development
• Working in our calm, child-centered, supportive and well-resourced environment will ensure that you thrive!
• An ambitious and collaborative leadership team with a clear vision for the Academy
• High quality new build with superb teaching and learning environments and facilities

Why work for us?

You will be given the opportunity to grow professionally and personally in this role and you will have access to meaningful professional development.

As a school and within our Trust we value inclusive working practices and diverse teams. If you’d prefer to work part-time or as a job-share, please let us know on your application and we’ll facilitate this wherever we can.

Our staff benefits package includes:

• Access to the highly competitive Teacher’s Pension Scheme
