Remote and outside IR35: Street Lighting Engineer Contract

We’re supporting Hampshire County Council in the recruitment of an experienced Interim Street Lighting Engineer for a 6+ month contract. This is a remote role offering a competitive hourly rate and the opportunity to contribute to county-wide infrastructure improvements.

- Start on or before 1st September 2025
- 6 months (with potential extension)
- £35–£45/hour (Outside IR35)
- Fully remote (chance of ad-hoc site visit if required)

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and review street lighting designs and briefs from inception to implementation
Approve third-party lighting designs to ensure compliance with standards
Provide technical oversight and input throughout project phases
Collaborate with internal teams, consultants, and external stakeholders

Requirements:

RQF Level 4 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
AMILP (Associate Member of the Institute of Lighting Professionals)
Proven experience in street lighting design and construction for highways
Strong ability to review and approve external designs
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
