Staff Officer Accountant– DAERA Information Systems
Location: Clare House, Belfast, BT3 9ED
Hourly Rate: £24.04–£25.01 per hour (£41,272 annually)
Contract: Temporary (12 months+) which will open the doors to putting yourself forward for the permanent external competitions coming up in the NICS with the help of your line manager and team
Hours: 37 per week | Monday–Friday| Flexible start and finish times
Working Pattern: Hybrid – 2 days in office / 3 days from home
Flexibility: Flexi-time available

About the Role
Join DAERA Information Systems and make an impact in financial governance and management within the Northern Ireland Civil Service. What You’ll Do
- Analyse financial data and deliver insightful reports.
- Manage in-year budgets, monthly profiling, variance analysis, and reporting.
- Produce monthly and/or quarterly management accounting information.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors, including the Northern Ireland Audit Office.
- Provide financial governance for IT projects.
- Offer expert advice on financial information, accounting requirements, and best practice.
- Apply activity-based costing and benchmarking techniques.
- Promote strong corporate governance and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
- Manage financial processing functions, staff, and resources.
- Drive process improvements and support business planning.
Essential Criteria
At least one year’s experience in a finance-related environment within the last five years.

Qualifications:
- Full current membership of one of the following professional bodies:
- Chartered Accountants Ireland
- ICA Scotland / ICA England & Wales
- CIMA / ACCA / CIPFA
- Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland
- Or Equivalent qualification
