SEND Teaching Assistant | Wigan | Start ASAP

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? Do you have the patience, empathy, and dedication to support pupils in achieving their full potential?
We are currently seeking a committed and nurturing SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Wigan. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with pupils who require additional support, helping them to access the curriculum and thrive in a supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEND, including autism, ADHD, and speech & language needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in implementing tailored learning strategies.
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
  • Support pupils with personal care (if required).
  • Help create a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with children with SEND (school-based or other relevant settings).
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to apply for one).
