This position is responsible for shaping and guiding the design of technical solutions across a range of digital services. The role ensures that all solutions are aligned with broader architectural principles and meet high standards of quality, consistency, and strategic fit.
Key Objectives:
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining architectural integrity across multiple teams. They will provide oversight on solution design, contribute to governance processes, and help define best practices. The role requires a strong grasp of modern technologies, the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and a hands-on approach to service delivery and strategic planning.
Main Duties:
- Collaborate with technical leads to ensure solution designs adhere to agreed standards.
- Participate in architecture review boards and governance forums.
- Help define and evolve technical standards and reusable patterns.
- Lead or support the design of complex or cross-cutting technical solutions.
- Maintain a working knowledge of technologies such as cloud platforms (e.g., AWS), application development (e.g., Java), data integration, and web services.
- Act as a bridge between business and technical teams, translating requirements into actionable designs.
- Adapt to shifting priorities and contribute directly to delivery when needed.
Reporting Line:
This role reports into the lead for architectural strategy and governance.
Candidate Profile:
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field.
- At least 5 years in a senior technical or architecture-focused role.
- Strong familiarity with architectural frameworks (e.g., TOGAF or similar).
- Proven experience in solution design and technical leadership.
- Background in Agile delivery environments, including SCRUM.
- Hands-on development experience in at least one mainstream programming language.
- Experience managing or supporting systems at scale.
Desirable / Essential Skills:
- Formal certification in architecture frameworks.
- Familiarity with DevOps tools (e.g., Git, JIRA, Confluence).
- Exposure to scaled Agile methodologies (e.g., SAFe).
- Practical experience with Java, JavaScript, Python, or similar.
- Data handling skills including SQL and analytics tools.
- Experience in mobile or web application development.
- Cloud infrastructure knowledge, particularly AWS.
- Understanding of working within regulated or highly governed environments.
