Your New Role
You'd be stepping into a Software Developer position. This is a hybrid role based in the Greater Exeter area. As a Software Developer, you'd be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting a variety of applications and systems. The role is described as being fast-paced and collaborative, focusing on tackling complex technical challenges and building high-quality software that adds real value.
Your core responsibilities would include:
- Building and maintaining secure, performant browser-based applications, integrating with or interacting with core business systems.
- Developing a diverse portfolio of software solutions, from small utilities to larger web-based applications, primarily using their established tech stack which includes .NET Core, SQL, Blazor, and Azure.
- Working across the full Software Development Lifecycle, from conception and design through to build and deployment.
- Writing clean, functional code on both front-end and back-end, requiring a broad, generalist knowledge.
- Ensuring web application security by building applications that meet high standards, pass penetration tests, and align with OWASP recommendations.
- Producing accurate estimates for project deliverables.
- Supporting developed applications, including issue investigation and resolution.
- Contributing to continuous improvement roadmaps for applications.
- Defining and executing test requirements, including writing scripts and coordinating testing.
- Maintaining application documentation (process flows, training materials, and support content).
- Handling escalated issues and ensuring their resolution with proper stakeholder communication.
- Providing critical care post-implementation and supporting service transition.
What You'll Need to Succeed
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- Expertise in developing secure, customer-facing, browser-based software applications. Ideally, this experience will be with technologies such as Blazor, .NET Core, SQL, and Azure, though equivalent technologies are considered.
- Experience in deploying web applications using DevOps approaches and CI/CD pipelines, preferably in Azure, but other equivalent experience (e.g., AWS) is also valued.
- Experience with serverless application architecture, ideally within Azure (e.g., Azure App Service, Blob Storage, Azure AD B2B/C, Managed SQL), but equivalent experience (e.g., AWS) is acceptable.
- A high level of technical proficiency, IT aptitude, and a genuine interest in technology.
- Strong critical thinking, logical reasoning, and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
