Social Worker job – Separated Children & Young People Team - Solihull

Your new company

We are looking for a dedicated Social Worker to join our Separated Children & Young People Team, supporting vulnerable children and young people who arrive in the UK without a parent or guardian or are transferred under the National Transfer Scheme (NTS). These children become Looked After Children (LAC) under Section 20 of the Children Act 1989, requiring comprehensive care planning and safeguarding.


Your new role

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver a high-quality social work service that promotes welfare and life chances for separated children and young people.
  • Undertake assessments in line with the Framework for the Assessment of Children in Need and their Families.
  • Develop and implement action plans using Signs of Safety, in partnership with children, families, and agencies.
  • Carry out statutory duties, including reviews, reports for panels, child protection conferences, and courts.
  • Maintain accurate manual and computer-based records in line with policy.
  • Promote integrated working and effective multi-agency collaboration.
  • Participate in supervision, performance management, and contribute to policy development.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Have a recognised professional Social Work qualification (MA/BA/B.Sc. in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work or CQSW)
  • Social Work England registration
  • 3 year post-qualifying permanent experience.
  • Previous experience working within Social Work adults services
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to travel as required.
