Oxfordshire County Council are seeking an experienced and dedicated Social Workers to join the Adult Safeguarding Team in Oxfordshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for a practitioner who is passionate about promoting independence, protecting vulnerable adults, and delivering high‑quality, person‑centred social work.
Your new role
In this role, you will work collaboratively with adults, families, carers, health partners, and community organisations to ensure safety, wellbeing, and positive outcomes. You will apply a strength‑based approach, support complex decision‑making, and act as a key professional in safeguarding enquiries under the Care Act 2014.
In this role, you will:
- Undertake proportionate strength‑based assessments, reviews, and interventions.
- Lead and contribute to safeguarding enquiries, ensuring a “Making Safeguarding Personal” approach.
- Work within relevant legislation including the Care Act 2014, MCA 2005, and MHA 1983.
- Develop clear, outcomes‑focused support plans.
- Provide advice on equipment, Assistive Technology, housing adaptations, and reablement services.
- Manage a varied caseload, including duty work and emergency responses.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies.
- Maintain accurate, defensible case records.
- Promote equality, inclusion, and ethical practice at all times.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be a confident and resilient practitioner who can balance risk, empower others, and deliver safe and effective outcomes.
Essential requirements include:
- Recognised Social Work qualification and Social Work England registration.
- Strong working knowledge of adult social care legislation and safeguarding practice.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication, report‑writing, and organisational skills.
- Commitment to professional development and reflective practice.
Desirable skills (not essential):
- Experience with equipment/adaptations, moving & handling, or housing-related work.
- Post‑qualifying training (e.g., BIA, AMHP, Practice Educator) or willingness to work towards this.
