Social Worker – Adult Safeguarding Team – Up to £28.40 per hour – Sandwell Council

Your new company

Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to join their Adult Safeguarding Team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a vital role in protecting vulnerable adults and delivering meaningful, person-centred outcomes within a forward-thinking local authority.
You will be working within a dynamic safeguarding environment, supporting adults at risk of abuse or neglect, and making a real impact on their safety, wellbeing, and independence.

Sandwell’s Safeguarding Team is committed to ensuring that all individuals have the right to live free from harm, abuse, and exploitation. The team works proactively with partners across statutory, voluntary, and private sectors to investigate concerns, build resilience, and deliver holistic safeguarding outcomes.
A strong strengths-based approach and commitment to Making Safeguarding Personal are central to the team’s practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of Section 42 safeguarding enquiries
  • Undertake duty work and safeguarding investigations
  • Complete assessments, reviews, and care planning in line with legislation
  • Carry out Mental Capacity Assessments and best interest decisions.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to safeguard adults at risk.
  • Develop and implement person-centred safeguarding plans
  • Maintain accurate and timely case records in line with statutory requirements.
  • Attend case conferences, strategy meetings, and legal proceedings where required.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Qualified Social Worker with relevant registration (Social Work England)
  • Proven experience in Adult Safeguarding
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • Care Act 2014
    • Mental Capacity Act 2005
  • Experience managing complex safeguarding caseloads and Section 42 enquiries.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Willingness to undertake home visits as required
