Site Manager in the Isle of Skye

Your new company

A leading main contractor with a strong footprint across the Highlands and Islands is embarking on an exciting modular‑build project on the Isle of Skye. Due to the early stages of this scheme, they are seeking an experienced Freelance Site Manager to oversee the delivery of a new-build fire station. You will be joining a business known for its high standards, collaborative culture, and commitment to delivering quality projects in remote and rural environments.

Your new role

As the Site Manager, you will take responsibility for day‑to‑day site operations throughout this 20‑week programme. You will coordinate trades and subcontractors, manage health & safety, and ensure the project progresses in line with programme and specification. While the project is modular in nature, early phases will require strong civils oversight, alongside ongoing involvement in M&E coordination. You will report regularly on progress, work closely with design and off‑site manufacturing teams, and ensure smooth delivery from groundworks through to installation and commissioning.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager on construction projects, ideally including modular build or remote‑location schemes
  • Strong background in civils and groundworks
  • Solid M&E coordination capability
  • SMSTS, First Aid, and CSCS (black or gold)
  • Ability to manage subcontractors effectively and maintain high H&S standards
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Flexibility to work on the Isle of Skye for the duration of the project

What you'll get in return

You’ll be joining a reputable contractor on a well‑structured project with a clear programme and strong support network. A competitive freelance day rate is available, along with the opportunity to work on a unique and meaningful build in a stunning location. Travel and/or lodge arrangements can be discussed for the right candidate.
