Freelance Site Manager in Edinburgh – Site Set Up on New Hotel Project

Your new company

A leading UK and Ireland main contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex, high-value construction and refurbishment projects is seeking an experienced Freelance Site Manager to support the mobilisation of a major hotel refurbishment in Edinburgh.

This landmark city-centre development is entering its initial phase, and an additional Site Manager is required to assist with site setup, logistics planning and the implementation of site procedures ahead of the main construction programme. The contract is expected to run for at least one month, with the potential for extension.


Your new role

As Freelance Site Manager, you will work alongside the Project Manager and wider site team to ensure the successful establishment of the project. The role will focus on the early-stage mobilisation and setup of the site, ensuring works are delivered safely and efficiently from the outset.
Key duties will include:
  • Managing site establishment and mobilisation activities.
  • Coordinating subcontractors involved in enabling and setup works.
  • Implementing and maintaining health & safety procedures.
  • Overseeing installation of welfare facilities, site access controls, hoarding and temporary services.
  • Carrying out site inductions, toolbox talks and regular inspections.
  • Assisting with short-term programming and logistics planning.
  • Maintaining accurate site records and documentation.
  • Supporting the project team in preparing for the main refurbishment works

What you'll need to succeed

  • Demonstrable experience as a Site Manager on large-scale construction or refurbishment projects.
  • Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation and site management processes.
  • Experience coordinating subcontractors and managing site logistics.
  • SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications are essential.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a busy project environment.
  • Previous experience on hotel, commercial or city-centre refurbishment projects would be advantageous.
  • Availability for an immediate or short-notice start.
