Your new role

The Operations Technicians support the safe, efficient and reliable running of port infrastructure, plant and equipment. Working as part of a multiskilled team, you will perform operational duties, planned and reactive maintenance, and ensure compliance with safety, environmental and operational standards across the port estate. Working on a shift pattern of early and late shifts on a 21-day rotation.
  • Operate, monitor and maintain port equipment including cranes, air bridges, gangways, conveyors, hydraulic systems and mechanical handling equipment.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs to minimise downtime and maintain operational readiness.
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of general facilities, including lighting systems, taps, toilets, rail barriers, access equipment and other port infrastructure.
  • Support vessel operations, including berth preparation, mooring assistance, equipment checks and ensuring safe access for passengers and crew.
    • Assist with fault-finding and troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical and control systems, escalating complex issues where required.
    • Perform safety checks and operational testing of air bridges, gangways and lifting equipment, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
What you'll need to succeed
We are looking for experience in heavy-engineering, industrial, utilities or marine/port facilities.
