SHEQ Manager

Looking for a role where you are more than a tickbox?
Are you a SHEQ professional looking for more responsibility over a SME's compliance?
Or have you got significant experience supporting site teams and integrating Health & Safety?

Hays Health & Safety are excited to be working with a growing local construction and fit-out specialist contractor who have a fantastic reputation with their Northwest clients for the standard of their work.

This contractor is looking for an experienced SHEQ professional to support them on a full-time permanent basis to drive SHEQ standards further and ensure the company's reputation goes from strength to strength.

To be successful in your role, you will have a good level of experience in a construction environment in a Health & Safety specific role where you have been hands-on, integrating and influencing site teams. You will act with integrity and look to support site teams rather than police them.

The Role
• Develop, implement, and maintain SHEQ management systems in line with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
• Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments across multiple sites.
• Lead incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Provide training, guidance, and support to project teams and subcontractors.
• Monitor and report SHEQ performance, delivering regular updates to senior management.
• Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and all relevant legislation.
• Drive initiatives to improve environmental performance and sustainability.

The right candidate
• Proven experience in a SHEQ leadership role within construction or fit-out environments (Other similar environments will be considered).
• NEBOSH General Certificate required as a minimum.
• Strong knowledge of ISO standards and auditing processes.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills with a proactive approach.
• Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.

The role will require travel across north-west sites. A salary of up to £50k + a car allowance is on offer for the right candidate.
