Service Manager Permanent Edinburgh Private Home Care

Your new company

We are currently recruiting an experienced Service Manager to lead a high‑quality Care at Home service. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated leader who is passionate about delivering safe, person‑centred care and driving continuous improvement across service delivery.

Your new role

The Service Manager will provide strong leadership across all aspects of the Care at Home service, ensuring high standards of care, full regulatory compliance and a positive, empowering working environment for staff. You will be responsible for service performance, quality assurance, workforce development and driving operational excellence.
This role requires a proactive, organised and supportive manager who can balance operational demands with strategic service development.


Operational Leadership
  • Lead the delivery of a safe, person‑centred Care at Home service in line with Health & Social Care Standards.
  • Oversee daily operations, care coordination, on‑call arrangements, and staff deployment.
  • Ensure all care plans are personalised, compliant and regularly reviewed.
  • Maintain strong communication with service users, families and partner agencies.
  • Manage safeguarding, risk assessment processes and reportable events.
Quality Assurance
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and best practice.
  • Lead on service audits, complaints analysis, and action planning.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies, including the Care Inspectorate.
Workforce Management
  • Line manage Care Coordinators and Care & Quality Officers; provide day‑to‑day guidance, supervision and development.
  • Support disciplinary and investigation processes when required.
  • Identify training needs and contribute to staff development plans.
Health & Safety
  • Maintain a safe working environment for colleagues and service users.
  • Oversee infection prevention and control practices.
  • Ensure equipment, vehicles and resources are maintained to required standards.
Financial & Resource Management
  • Monitor and manage service budgets effectively.
  • Implement operational controls to ensure cost‑effective service delivery.
Service Development
  • Support strategic growth of the service, including increasing delivered hours and maximising referral opportunities.
  • Represent the service at external meetings and maintain strong multi‑agency relationships.

What you'll need to succeed

Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Relevant qualifications such as Social Work, Nursing or SVQ Level 4 in Health & Social Care (SVQ 3 considered with willingness to achieve Level 4).
  • Proven experience in a similar managerial role within Care at Home or social care services.
  • Strong communication, leadership and coaching skills.
  • Experience with budgeting, compliance and quality assurance processes.
  • Understanding of care legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and ability to pass PVG/Disclosure Scotland checks.
Desirable:
  • Experience in business management or service development.
