Job Opportunity: Service Designer
Location:Birmingham (Hybrid Work Pattern)
Rate: £20.00-£25.00 per hour Based on Experience
Contract Type:Initial 6-month contract with potential to go permanent

Hays is proud to be supporting a major transformation programme within a local council’s Customer Services team. Are you passionate about designing services that truly meet user needs? We’re looking for a Service Designer to join our clients’ Digital & Customer Services team and help shape the future of public services.

What You’ll Do:
  • Design end-to-end service journeys based on user needs and organisational goals.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to prototype and test new service processes.
  • Map service and user journeys to identify transformation opportunities.
  • Contribute to service design standards and community development.
  • Use data and user research to inform and iterate service designs.

What We’re Looking For:
  • Strong understanding of service design principles and user-centred design.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams to improve service delivery.
  • Ability to prototype in various formats and visualise service journeys.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A relevant qualification or equivalent experience in service design or a related field.
