The Digital service team for our clients organisation leads on Digital strategy, development, co-ordination, planning, project, and programme management for all Digital and supporting functions.

This role forms part of the IT Operations team within the wider Digital Service. The primary focus of this role is to lead the server and network team in providing a highly efficient and professional service across the IT Server, Infrastructure, and Network Estate.

The post holder will be responsible for the management of physical and virtual server infrastructure, including associated hardware, Active Directory and related services, Office 365, and cloud solutions such as Azure. In addition, they will oversee the Trust’s network infrastructure, ensuring secure, resilient, and high-performing LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, and firewall systems that meet the organisation’s operational and governance requirements.

The role includes managing a team of specialists who provide day-to-day management and maintenance of network equipment, monitoring performance, troubleshooting issues, implementing upgrades, and ensuring robust security protocols. Collaboration with third-party suppliers and internal stakeholders will be key in maintaining seamless network connectivity across Trust sites and within the wider health community.

The Server and Network Manager will be responsible for managing a team of Network and Server specialists, including task prioritisation, resource allocation, and performance coaching.

This role is instrumental in ensuring the continuity of service and availability of clinical and business administration systems. The post holder will be part of the core hub that manages real-time communications with customers on the current status of IT and Clinical Systems and Operations, liaising directly with other services as required.





Key Responsibilities

Manage the planning, improvement and delivery of IT systems, equipment and services to provide secure and accurate information that will support and enable efficient and effective patient care, using project management skills and methodology with user/stakeholder engagement.

Coordinate the procurement, maintenance, upgrading and operating costs of IT Infrastructure and server systems, including hardware and software, where applicable to support the best value for money from capital and revenue budgets.

Manage IT projects and work packages that support better working and innovation, managing internal and external project staff, supplier and service contracts, producing appropriate project or performance documentation as required.

Overseeing cybersecurity measures across infrastructure and server systems, ensuring compliance with security standards, managing risk, and implementing technical controls to protect against cyber threats.

Adhere to and manage projects via the Trusts change control policy, taking ownership of the delivery and timescales set out by the change process.

Work within and be aware of NHS guidelines that support information governance, information security, data quality and audit.

Lead and participate in local and regional meetings and events, as appropriate, or other activities relevant to the role.

Implement the Trusts goals, ambitions and IT Strategy of the organisation’s business plans in ongoing response to requirements, funding, and investments, within the county, regional and national context.

Working with the senior members of the Digital services team to identify and develop new processes, policies, practices and systems for the department, including feeding back to the Head of IT Operations and Deputy Head of IT Operations.

Ensuring backups and disaster recovery models are robust, fit for purpose and audited in accordance with the trusts policies.

Ensure that the day-to-day management of the team meets GHC KPIs and end user requirements.
