Project Manager - Contract Opportunity

Your new company

You will be working for one of the UK's largest and most reputable Government organisations, who are in a constant state of growth with multiple ongoing projects underway in multiple different areas.

This organisation are currently looking for an experienced project manager to join them on a 6 month contract - they key requirement with this role is that it requires the ideal candidate to be more business and stakeholder focussed, rather than digital or technically focussed. They are looking for a Project Manager with experience with delivery, scheduling and risk management rather than someone who is solely a technical project manager.

This role will be mainly remote working (with potential occasional travel to one of their sites in the UK)

Your new role

  • Build project plans and apply appropriate delivery methodology, setting project controls and tracking and reporting against milestones.
  • Own and maintain RAID logs, dependency trackers and change control records.
  • Identify emerging risks and issues, escalating proactively with analysis and options.
  • Ensure project management standards are applied consistently in line with PMO requirements.
  • Lead the development of high-quality project reports, supporting effective governance and decision making.
  • Coordinate project assurance, audit, and gateway reviews.
  • Engage confidently with a range of stakeholders, acting as a trusted point of contact for project information and updates.
  • Support communication and alignment across delivery teams, suppliers and other functions.
  • Promote individual and team performance, seek appropriate guidance and coaching from the project community.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience of working in a large or medium complexity project team or work stream lead for a small low complex project with working knowledge of project delivery methodologies and frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of planning, scheduling, budget management, resource management, risk and issue management and quality management in a project or programme environment, or appropriate skills that have been gathered in a non-project environment.
  • Working knowledge of governance, assurance, requirements management and change control in a project or programme environment or appropriate skills that have been gathered in a non-project environment.
  • Awareness of business case development, commercial and procurement processes, and asset allocation
