Your new company

The services of Hays have been retained by our client, the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, to recruit a Senior Supervisor to plan and coordinate the direct labour team’s workload. This role is based in Coleraine and is an ongoing temporary contract position with the likelihood of being advertised for permanent appointment.

Your new role

This position is based in the Coleraine Direct Labour department. As the Senior Supervisor, you will plan and coordinate the workload of the direct trades staff who are tasked with Response Maintenance on all NIHE properties in the greater Coleraine area.

Some of the duties include:
  • To organise, plan and control the work of the Direct Labour workforce, covering Building Maintenance; Specialist Works; Electrical inspections & Testing; Void Property Maintenance.
  • Organise and manage the workload of the DLO Supervisors in a cost effective manner to ensure that all targets are met.
  • Manage a team of supervisors and to assist the DLO Manager to manage the business.
Ensure that the necessary resources are in place to meet contract demands in the following areas: Labour, Plant, Equipment, Vehicles,Stores, Stock holding
  • To meet regularly with the District Office regarding all contracts and agree all amendments.

What you'll need to succeed

Be a time-served craftsperson with at least four years’ relevant experience.
OR
A BTEC HND / HNC or equivalent in a construction related subject, and at least three years’ relevant experience.
OR
A degree or equivalent academic qualification, in a construction related subject, and at least two years’ relevant experience.

Relevant experience will be considered as experience of supervising a multi-trade workforce. Candidates must have access to a mode of transport which will enable them to perform the duties of this post.

What you'll get in return

This position offers an immediate start with the opportunity to work with Northern Ireland's largest social landlord.
You will be paid via Hays on a weekly basis.
The hourly rate ranges from £18.72 - £21.52 per hour (£36,124 - £41,511 per annum)
The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week. 8am to 4pm.
You will also get 35 days paid annual leave, including stat days.
Business mileage paid at 45p per mile.

Whilst this role is offered on an ongoing temporary contract basis, it is envisaged that a permanent role will be recruited in due course.
